Falco Q&A. Quick Question, Quick Answer, Less SpamYeah, we don't want clutter, so quick questions can be asked here, instead of threads being made. Cinder and I should be able to answer most of your Falco questions. I'm hoping for metagame related questions, although "what costume do you use" questions are fine lol. Whatever, shoot away and hopefully you can lrn2falco!

And I shall sticky this...
And yeah, I'd personally appreciate y'all asking more metagame based questions, but I won't hand out infractions for asking random questions XD
Btw, before anyone asks, I prefer Green Falco...

Fact: Green Falcon is the best Falcon. Okay. First of all, thoughts on the SHDL for Falco? How about his spike? Do you ever use Falco Illusion for a spike (if you're in the air, and they're in the air, it spikes. o.O!)? Can you cancel his Falco Illusion, to mess with people? How fast are his attacks, relative to Fox's? Do you use his Shine for combos? How good is fAir for Falco? ALL THESE QUESTIONS AND MORE AWAIT YOU TWO! GO GO GO!

1) SHDL does not exist for Melee Falco, only SHL. We short hop, fire blaster, and FF the laser for maximum spamming and mobility. It's easily one of the best, if not the best projectile in the game. It's spammable, and provides one of the safest approaches in the game. It can also set up for kills. Full hopped triple lasers and double jump immediate FF lasers also provide great air control. I shoot his lasers because they're totally radical
2) Falco's sideB can be a good spike, but it's a very situational one. It can be used to punish a messed up overzealous edgehog. By passing over them onto the stage, if they aren't invincible, then it's byebye. Still, Phantasm is a move that shouldn't really be used for offensive purposes in general, it's not really worth the risk. (Lol except for surprise spikes on Jungle Japes, the heights of the platforms and all those gaps leading to the river are epic). Plenty of sideB mindgames and maneuvers on Japes too.
3) Yes, yes you can! Press B during the windup and it'll cancel. Just learn the timing, although personally I use the cancel more for edgegames than anything else.
4) Fox and Falco's attacks are of very similar speed. The main reason Fox feels far faster than Falco is his insane (even compared to Falco's) falling speed and his great dash speed and crazy short SH. Falco's shuffled aerials can help him maintain a crazy rate of attack. Just because Fox is lightning fast, don't make Falco Boozer slow.
5) Do we use his Shine for combos? DO WE USE HIS SHINE FOR COMBOS?!?!?! Man, his shine is the staple move for Falco's combo game. We try and shuffle our aerials into it all the time. Fox really, really gets a beating from Falco's shine combos. If we can predict your DI, we can combo you to death percentages. If you get shined at early %s, expect Falco to follow your DI with waveshines, and then start shine > SHFFL'd dair > shine chains/ > shine > bair combos and the like. Yes, the shine's vertical knockback properties combined with immediate JCing allows Falco to wreak havoc, most notably on fast fallers like Fox and Captain Sex Machine. Although isn't directly part of the question, Falco can do a chain of SHFFL'd Dair > Shines on your shield, with the shine preventing Falco from getting shieldgrabbed. It's called pillaring, and allows for ridiculous shield pressure. The only feasible option you have to escape is *shudders* roll away, which can be chased with a wavedash. Falco's Fair is nothing too special. It's quite unlikely that all of the hits will connect. Falco has far better options in the air, his Nair and Bair being the most notable ones. His Uair is also pretty awesome, but it's not pure rape like Fox, and it can be frustrating to land both hits of it cleanly if your opponent can DI well. Did I mention that Dair was complete and utter rape?
Well, I hoped that helped, drop by any time if you've got any more questions.
EDIT: ROFL, I should write a freakin guide, I've got enough here to make a decent start. But I'm so lazeh

Hardly. Falcon refers to a bird of prey. What's that? Falco is a Falcon? WHAT?! WHO KNEW!?
:3 I'm too clever to fall into a trap like that.

green falco FTW. Falco's my secondary. Does anybody know the easiest way to SHL and Double shine? like, any secret tips I may not know? and is double-shine good for anything besides showing off and maybe shield pressure?

Umm... Learn it? Lol, practice maaaan. Although sliding between Y and B is what I've generally seen as the easiest to do Jump Cancelled Shines. Shield pressure whilst looking good is the way to get laid. Still, pillaring is usually more effective and sexier looking. And and Handsockpuppet, you might wanna keep a hold of this right here so we can flood h4x0rz with it
