Yeah, no one better tell me that the new rules are just fine and are not restrictive at all. www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=7015130&postcount=20According to Azua, the reason that this thread, a thread giving a news update on how it is unlikely that a Pokemon MMO will happen, with a quote describing it exactly, was closed. Yes, fan-made MMOs were mentioned in passing a few times. But NONE of them were linked to, and I had a VERY hard time finding the mentions. What the hell, seriously? We're not allowed to MENTION fan-made Pokemon MMOs due to the new rules? I don't even see anything applicable to that in there, but...UGH. That makes NO sense. On-topic "advertising" is supposed to be allowed. Unless it's supposed to be a problem because fan made MMOs are Pokemon games without the permission of the Pokemon creators, and use their sprites and such. That still doesn't make sense, though, because last time I checked there's nothing illegal with that as long as you aren't making money off of it. Also, last time I checked Shoddy Battle is mentioned QUITE a bit, and the use of which is even encouraged. Aside from the fact that Shoddy just uses the Pokemon and not the overworld sprites as well (since there is no overworld), there's no difference there. Oh, and another thing. If fan Pokemon MMOs are somehow legally iffy, then why have I, in the past, seen multiple advertisements for one on SmashBoards itself? It's not as if SmashBoards is suddenly 100% legal now, it's always been pretty big on keeping illegal things off of the forum, and blatant advertising in large banners is even bigger than just discussion. Yeah, this is either total BS or there's something I'm missing here.

The only reason I'm still on Smashboards is to advertise for us >.> if it weren't for that, I'd be long gone...seriously, the new administration is bullshit >.>
And we ALL know how much FUN it is trying to advertise now >.>

Yeah. Well, this isn't (I don't think) related to the MLG crisis, but SmashBoards fails at rules once again. So, Jam was doing a great job keeping the User Blogs up and all right? Apparently the Admins have told him off and broken him of that horrible, horrible habit. On top of it, to enforce that, my "The Don'ts of Blogging" thread has been de-stickied (which upsets me for an obvious reason and also because it is the stripping of sort of an official code for the User Blogs). Here's the closing statement: "As this thread no longer represents official policy for the User Blogs, I'm unstickying it and re-opening it. If you guys want to keep it around as a suggestion for how blogs should be done, that's fine. But I will no longer be closing threads based on these criteria." So, what has caused this change? "This is a place for blogs. You can write anything you want in a blog, so long as it doesn't violate the Global Rules. Any attempt to change the "tone" of User Blogs is basically an attempt to change the nature of blogging." Blogging CANNOT be defined as "anything". You define it as "anything" and you get "blogs" with 30 images of cuccos animated to flip continuously. Hopefully with help from other supporters of an intelligent User Blogs I can try to make a dent in this, but I don't see a change. Jam is a good moderator, I don't think he personally agrees with this, although I could be wrong. From the announcement it sounds like "Sorry guys, the Admins don't want us having separate guidelines anymore, so I have to remove them..." I don't know why the Admins decided on this. Maybe we ought to send them back in time and force them to moderate the User Blogs for a week. Then maybe see how they feel about it. I mean, what's so bad about this anyways? EVERY OTHER DAMN FORUM ON SMASHBOARDS HAS ITS OWN SEPARATE RULES. The one forum most susceptible to spam and chaos is the one which can apparently only have guidelines like "GIVE YOUR BLOG A COOL TITLE!!!" SmashBoards is really pissing me off at the moment.

Ugh, I'm with you on that 100%. It feels like the two forums I frequent -- the User Blogs and the Poke Center -- have gone to hell. Funerrific. If it weren't for the people I don't think I'd be there anymore. EDIT: I may have to revive the "R.I.P. The User Blogs" group after all. Nearly all of the regulars agree that the old set of rules were good, that we need guidelines, but it's just not being bought. We're already back to "Hey look guise, Smash-related stuff that should be in the Smash sections but I'm an idiot and would rather post it as a blog because it's easier that way!" On top of it, I filed a dispute about Umbreon, moderator for the Poke Center. Azua replied to it as if she thought he was abusing his power and disobeying the regular Global Rules. Somehow, HE read that dispute too, and knew that it was me and another member who filed the disputes. So he contacted us via AIM and interrogated us for an hour. In the process he invited half of the Poke Center to listen to this interrogation and thus revealed classified information (that we had filed the disputes) to them. That's apparently supposed to be an automatic demod so he was demodded from everything he covers. Then apparently a "glitch" allowed him to access stuff on his other boards so Azua gave them back to him anyways. Then yesterday I noticed he's back on the Poke Center too. -_- This is a guy who double posted, posted spam threads, abused his power to edit posts and add pictures in when locking threads, dodged the censor, etc. etc. From what I can tell Azua remodded him because "he's a cool guy" as she stated a few times in various places. Surely after being demodded temporarily he'd learn his lesson right? No.AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH. What the hell? Why is SmashBoards being so utterly crappy now?

I'm still inclined to believe that MLG has something to do with it...
That or Azua becoming an admin (which I'm sure we can thank JV for)

This is the kind of business leadership that's destroying our economy; greedy, uncaring, and selfish.
And if this is the same leadership we're facing on Smashboards, I can guarantee things won't end well for the site. >.>
